About Us.

AIMS
Our primary aims at Fairwater are to promote commercial hook line fishing but more importantly,  to improve the catches of our customers.
We successfully run our own commercial fishing boat, a Kingfisher 26 called ‘Halcyon’ devoted to Hook & Line fishing for most of the time.
This enables us not only to develop and test all the products we supply on this website, but also to offer advice and assistance on the selection and use of the products as required.

WHO ARE WE?
Fairwater is a family owned business run by Father & Son team : -
Ed Russell was the  person who started the business off.
He runs the Fairwater workshops, making much of the ready to fish gear we supply, and is also full time skipper of Halcyon.
As the business had grown and developed, he is now assisted by his dad -
Alan Russell who looks after the office side of the business.

OUR BOAT - “HALCYON”
Halcyon was one of the last Kingfisher 26 (K26) hulls to be built at the yard in Falmouth, Cornwall.
She was fitted out from a complete hull, whaleback and wheelhouse mould kit to a very high standard by local shipwright Robert Chudleigh. Halcyon was complete and launched in October 2007 and has been fishing on a full time basis ever since.

Halcyon has a Perkins Sabre M130c and PRM 750d gearbox turning a 27” 5-bladed propeller.
Maximum speed is just over 8 knots. Cruising speed between 6.5 and 7 knots.
The boat is fitted with a top end electronics package including MaxSea 2d/3d plotter.
Halcyon is now well known locally for landing some very good catches of high quality line caught fish.

Throughout the summer months Halcyon is either jigging or trolling for Pollack and Bass during fine weather and fishing for Mackerel inshore when weather is not suitable further off.
Towards the end of the summer and into autumn, Halcyon tends to target Mackerel more often.
Halcyon carries all the equipment for all relevant hook and fine fisheries aboard at all times allowing all opportunities to be exploited.
Halcyon is rigged with outriggers for trolling for Bass and Pollack. She also has two Belitronic BJ5000 fitted for jigging and trolling for Mackerel, Pollack and Bass. We have extensive experience using the BJ5000 and so we are able to best advise our customers with set up and programming of the machines.
The very best fish caught by Halcyon commands high prices at the local auction at Looe.
All our select fish are tagged through the gill cover.
The boats name – ‘Halcyon’ is printed on the front of each tag.
Our web address www.linecaught.me is printed on the reverse.

In order to further inform our fish buyers and end users of how and where their fish was caught we have built the linecaught.me website. We hope to add to this over time as time allows.

FAIRWATER  R&D

Here at Fairwater we have a department devoted to research and development. We are constantly on the lookout for new materials and new products, and trialing new methods and tactics so that we might be better placed to increase our own catches, and those of our customers.
Through R&D, Fairwater will continue to introduce new products to our customers.
Fairwater Fishing is based in the Cornish Fishing Village of Looe,
in the South West corner of England.
Fairwater began in 2004  with a box of hooks and a spool of line.
Since then,  Fairwater has grown from strength to strength through
our extensive, loyal customer base.
These days much of what we supply is custom made for us, both
here in the UK and manufactured and imported from all around the
world. Our grass roots are in  our local hook and line fleet.
We can proudly boast that we supply all the top local hook and line fishermen with ready to fish gear or materials to make their own.
